The exhibition offers a journey through key monumental installations, sculptures and objects symbol of his career, videos and photography series by a strong political and symbolic impact, allowing a total immersion in the artistic world and in the personal biography of Ai Weiwei. The works on display will range from the New York period between the eighties and nineties in which he discovers the art of his “masters” Andy Warhol and Marcel Duchamp to the great iconic works of the new millennium made of assemblies of materials and objects such as bicycles and stools, until policies and controversial works that have marked the last days of his artistic production, such as the portraits of political dissidents built with LEGO bricks or the recent projects on migration in the Mediterranean region.

The masterpieces coming from the collections of New York, Venice and other international museums have names such as Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Man Ray and the so-called informal European as Alberto Burri, Emilio Vedova, Jean Dubuffet, Lucio Fontana, along with great paintings and sculptures by some of the major figures in the American art of the fifties and sixties such as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, Alexander Calder, Roy Lichtenstein, Cy Twombly.
