The Verrocchio Master of Leonardo exhibition in Florence arrives at Palazzo Strozzi from 9 March to 14 July 2019. It falls just in the year anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci AND celebrates his teacher Andrea del Verrocchio, symbolic artist of the Renaissance in Florence.
You can admire over 120 works among which paintings, sculptures and drawings from the most important museums and collections in the world such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Musée du Louvre in Paris, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Uffizi Galleries of Florence.
The exhibition features masterpieces by Andrea del Verrocchio and works by the most famous artists of the second half of the fifteenth century related to his workshop, such as Domenico del Ghirlandaio, Sandro Botticelli, Pietro Perugino and Leonardo da Vinci, his most famous student, of which it will be possible to reconstruct training and exchange with the teacher through exceptional loans and unparalleled comparisons.
The artistic production on display in Florence concerns the time of Lorenzo the Magnificent, approximately between 1460 and 1490.
A special section of the exhibition is at the Bargello National Museum.
The exhibition is curated by two of the leading experts of the art of the fifteenth century, Francesco Caglioti and Andrea De Marchi.
