The Luxury Travel Advisor Awards of Excellence 2015 awarded by the US Association Luxury Travel Advisors to the General Manager of Hotel Brunelleschi in Florence and Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio. On the occasion of its annual meeting ULTRA Summit held on the 22/24 of May 2016 in the luxurious St. Regis Monarch Beach in Dana Point, California, the Association Luxury Travel Advisors announced that Italian Claudio Catani won the seventh edition of the Awards of Excellence in the ‘Top General Manager of the Year Worldwide 2015’ category.
The event brings together the élite of the owners of travel agencies and service providers from all over the world to discuss the latest research and trends of the so-called ultra-luxury travel. Their different experiences, unique perspectives, and authoritative opinions provide the basis to understand the progress of this niche of very demanding travellers whose tastes and desires are in constant evolution. Every year the panel selects the nominations across the world among those who are at the top of their category. The readers of Luxury Travel Advisor, who are mostly Americans, then vote for the finalists, all iconic characters of the hotel industry, who are mostly foreigners. It is therefore a great honour that the choice was for an Italian.
Claudio Catani won the Hotel General Manager category. His direction, in just a few years, after a multimillion dollar renovation, has led the Hotel Brunelleschi in Florence to the top of the most luxurious and prestigious hotels in Florence, also thanks to the extraordinary level of service. Since 2014, Catani also directs the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio.
The two structures are similar: both are harmonious unions between past and present. The Brunelleschi is a luxurious 4-star hotel set in a charming building that incorporates a Byzantine tower, located just a few steps away from the cathedral, while the Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio is a historic 5-star hotel of great architectural beauty and is a legend in Versilia, and it has a restaurant with two Michelin stars and a Spa. International travellers looking for hospitality that is at the same time elegant, contemporary, and able to gift an authentic atmosphere thus have the opportunity to enjoy the full Tuscan experience.
Catani commented: ‘I am very honoured by this award that recognizes the great work done over the past five years to bring Hotel Brunelleschi in Florence at levels of excellence both for the interior architecture and the service, which is our flagship. The beautiful suites with a view on Brunelleschi’s dome are sought by international travellers also for the exclusive Suite & More program that includes, among the various privileges reserved for the guests of the Suites, a highly specialized concierge just for them. The gourmet restaurant Santa Elisabetta is appreciated by many Florentine and international guests. The Principe di Piemonte is back to the glories of the past with a gastronomic offer that shines with two Michelin stars. A heartfelt thanks to those who nominated and voted for me and to the properties of the two hotels that have trusted me and the team I have the pleasure of working with. The commitment we make for our Travel Agents supporters is to continue to have a primary objective: the guarantee that their customers will enjoy a unique experience during their stay at the Brunelleschi and the Prince di Piemonte’.
